Bows

I started making bows in 2008.  It has since then been a passion of mine.  I love to work with wood and most of my bows are selfbows.  they are bows of wood with no backing, such as other wood or fiberglass.  Some of the bows I make are sinew backed bows which are still considered selfbows.

Osage Flatbow

Osage Flatbow
This bow is my go to bow.  It is 60 pounds at 28 inches.  It shoots really hard.  Osage is my favorite bow wood,  although I like experimenting with all woods.

Red Elm Carved Mollegabet

This bow I made for my wife Brooke.  The back of this bow I carved with a celtic design, which with most bows is a big no no.  This wood is quarter sawn and allows me to carve the back of the bow.  As far as I know I am only the second person, besides Richard Rosseau, that has done a carved back bow.

Sinew Backed Short Bow (California Style)

Picture
This little bow is sinew backed elm.  These bows usually were made of yew, I had no yew available to me so I used Elm.  It draws about 68 pounds at 19 inches.  It is painted in a NA style from California.  The total lenght of this bow is 38".
